Description
On a light-colored, cold plain, they grow seperately with a pointed apex. In the passage in question, a fruit bowl with fruits is depicted. In the center of the fruit is a watermelon, as well as a slice of it, which is detached from it. A knife is wedged on top of the slice. The fruit bowl with the fruit is framed with rococo floral decoration. In the 18th century, the theme of the watermelon and the slice with a knife stuck on it, was one of the most popular, both in secular and ecclesiastical painting decoration. The specific theme expresses the affluence and optimism of the time.
